Labeling Instructions
To name a computer, follow this format:
[Device Type Code][Department Code][Asset Tag]
- Start with the device type abbreviation (e.g., USL for Laptop).
- Follow with the department abbreviation (e.g., ITS for Information Technology Services).
- End with the asset tag (e.g., 1111).
Example: USLITS1111
This indicates a laptop (USL) assigned to the ITS department, with asset tag 1111.
Label Placement
-
Laptops: Place the physical asset tag on the bottom left of the laptop lid.
-
Desktops: Place the tag on the top left of the device when it is standing vertically.
Make sure the label is printed, clearly visible, and securely attached.
